Pristine river somewhere up high in the mountains. It was deceitfully calm because the current was so fast that later when I swam, I had hard time even crawling against the current.

In a way, I was reminded of the Biblical episode when Jesus was aghast that there were so many vendors in front of a synagogue.

Wasn't it in Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha that the symbolism of the river is used? Never the same...never stepping into the same river...? I loved the experience of swimming in this river, but it was so rapid! One-time experience is enough!

The nymph statues are found everywhere here. So closely related to La Sirene that is worshipped in the Voodoo religion and is associated with wealth.
